Fragments of Me

Concept Note

This project is a series of self-portraits that capture the emotions I experienced while creating them. Each painting reflects a distinct moment in my journey—whether it was the excitement of a teenager discovering love or the exhaustion of battling a viral flu. These self-portraits serve as emotional time capsules, encapsulating fleeting yet profound feelings. Painting myself has helped bridge the gap between art and self-love, shaping my evolving perception of identity. Through this practice, I have come to see art as more than just an expressive medium—it is a mirror reflecting growth, resilience, and self-acceptance. Looking back at these pieces, I see both how far I’ve come and how much further I have to go. Yet, there isn’t a single part of this journey I would change. The raw artistic interpretation in my work prioritizes emotion over perfection, embracing imperfections as part of the storytelling. This approach has allowed me to celebrate authenticity rather than chase an idealized image. Engaging in this process nurtured self-awareness and appreciation, turning self-portraits into acts of self-love. In the end, these paintings remind us that art is not just about representation but about healing, acceptance, and the intimate dialogue we share with ourselves.
