Concept Note

Love is one of the deepest emotions we experience, yet it carries a complexity that can be hard to put into words. ‘To Love Is To’ is an attempt to capture the essence of love, its beauty, its pain, its quiet moments through simple expressions. Using journal-style reflections, minimalistic drawings, and the symbolism of a doll, this piece seeks to make love feel more tangible, more relatable. The doll represents love in its many forms. It's something we hold close, like a childhood toy; something delicate, like emotions; something that can be lost or left behind, yet never truly disappears. It carries traces of those who once cherished it, much like love leaves its imprint on us, shaping who we are even when it fades. This project unfolds in the form of a journal, blending hand-drawn sketches and simple cartoons with reflective writing. The goal is to take love, an emotion so layered and overwhelming and translate it into small, digestible pieces that speak to the heart.

Love is complicated, but sometimes, the simplest expressions hold the most truth. ‘To Love Is To’ is an invitation to feel, to reflect, and to find your own meaning in love’s many forms.

Artist Bio

I am a law student who desperately tries exploring pieces that strip away civilized facades, revealing our raw, animalistic nature. For me, every new piece of knowledge, every artwork, and every opportunity to help brings her closer to her idea of a life well-lived.
